Marco Fronzi

Dr. Marco Fronzi is a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Sydney specialising in computational materials science, condensed-matter theory and AI-driven materials design. His work integrates quantum-mechanical modelling, atomistic simulation, and interpretable machine-learning frameworks to accelerate materials discovery for electronics, catalysis, energy conversion and quantum-defect engineering.

Marco has led multiple academic–industry collaborations across Australia, Japan and Europe, working with partners in clean energy, photonics, advanced manufacturing and semiconductor research. He combines deep theoretical expertise with practical implementation, helping teams understand complex materials behaviour, evaluate new technologies, and design data-driven development strategies. He is particularly active in guiding companies using machine learning for materials screening, model interpretability, and R&D decision-making.
